Proposed Water District #5

The public referendum to approve the proposed Town of Alden Water District #5 was defeated by a vote of 280 against, to 235 in favor. The cost to property owners for the project and current economic conditions are believed to have been major factors in the defeat of the proposal.
The Town has received numerous inquiries about any future plans for public water within the proposed district. Due to the importance of this matter, the Town will begin the re-survey district residents identifying those areas of greatest need or desire for public water. The Town of Alden will also continue to work with State and Federal agencies to locate improved revenue sources for any potential future water districts.
