The Highway Department is the most visible service agency in town government. From snowplowing in the winter, to street paving, brush removal, leaf collection, park maintenance and drainage projects during the remainder of the year, this department is deeply involved in lives of Alden residents.

Major Service Areas

Town of Alden Brush Pickup

The Town Highway Department picks up brush on a regular basis during the months of April through November.

During the first week of the month brush is picked up for properties on the North side of Broadway and on the third week of the month, brush is picked up for properties on the South side of Broadway.

Brush should be out on Monday mornings by 6:30am, NO return trips will be made. All brush should be piled no more than three feet high with cut ends facing the road. No limbs over ten inches in diameter will be picked up.

Fall Leaf Pickup

This service is completed weekly during the fall. All leaves should be bagged {it doesn’t matter if the bags are clear or colored} and left street side.

Driveway and Culvert Pipe Installation

After application and payment of a $150 installation fee, the Highway Department will install driveway and or culvert drainage pipe at street side of any property located on a town road. The property owners are responsible to purchasing culvert pipe on their own. For installation on non-town roads either the Erie County {759-8328} or NY State Highway {683-3476} Departments should be contacted.
