2008 STAR Rebates
New York State has expanded the property tax relief program for middle-class taxpayers and increased benefits for seniors.
In addition to a direct reduction on their school tax bills, taxpayers who are property owners will receive an additional benefit this fall in the form of a rebate check. Property owners who receive either a basic or enchanced STAR exemption on their 2008- 2009 school tax bills will receive the rebate check automatically. In some cases where property/owner information has changed, the property owner will have to apply for the rebate. Rebate checks and applications are scheduled to be mailed bu the New York State Department of Taxation during the week of September 29, 2008
